Our hearts are like soil; if we have hard hearts God's word will not penetrate, if our hearts are rocky ground the seed might sprout but dry up as soon as we are out the door into everyday life. We can have good soil with weed seeds in it, and the cares and problems of life will come along and choke out God's word. We need to allow God's word to take root and grow in our lives that we can bring forth much fruit.
